Journalist Frankie Snobel was used to writing features about green technology and Part L, but wanted to get involved even deeper in the global challenge to combat carbon. With the support of many key electrical industry sponsors, including Vent-Axia, Frankie headed to the Manu Biosphere Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon to work as a rainforest conservation volunteer. Vent-Axia, a leader in low carbon ventilation, has launched its first online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) module. Entitled ‘Part F and Part L of the Building Regulations 2010’, the new free online module explains how the legislation affects ventilation and is accredited by the Construction CPD Certification Service.

Vent-Axia welcomes a recent report which forecasts that Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is set to dominate new sustainable homes post-2016. According to the Zero Carbon Hub VIAQ (Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality) Task Group Interim report, with over 18,000 MVHR units sold in 2010-11, the technology already has a significant foothold in new UK housing. The Task Group considers MVHR use will continue to grow and become the dominant form of ventilation, standard in most new homes post-2016.
